
NEW TALENT RATES
AS OF OCTOBER 30, 2006
The following has been negotiated as the addendum to the 2003 SAG and AFTRA TV codes and applies to on camera performers, voice-overs, singers and group singers. These rates will apply to commercials produced on or after October 30, 2006 and are in effect for only two years.
TV - includes Holding Fees session, all Class A uses, cable, Internet, all spot use, foreign use, Industrial/theatrical uses - EVERYTHING
1.6% increase on everything
2.P&W increases .5%
Example: On camera – session inc P&W & Payroll Taxes
Old rates $668.50
New rates $767.44
Internet rate - equals 3 times a session fee or $2,302.32 for 1 year’s usage – see * below for 8-week option. Each time a commercial is edited and used on the internet it will require a new payment.
Example:
*A commercial as broadcast is used on the website for the brand – $2,302.32
*Part of this commercial is used on the client’s website – $2,302.32
*A frame from this commercial is used on an internet banner – $2,302.32
*Part of this commercial is used on Target’s website – $2,302.32
*Each use will be at least $2,302.32 for 1 year’s usage or a TOTAL of $9,209.28
The contract does say that we can negotiate with the performer (or agent) for unlimited or extended editing rights for use on the internet as opposed to negotiating for individual usage. It also says for commercials produced for use on television, the producer will make every effort to fully inform performers if the commercials are intended for use on the Internet, the number of Internet versions to be made and the anticipated new media platforms to be used.
New Media - includes digital, electronic, or any other type of delivery platform including but not limited to commercials delivered via pod-casts, mobile phones, and other digital and electronic media whether now known or unknown.
The union is not setting a price for new media. It is all up for negotiation. Again if work placed on the internet is edited for different platforms each edited version requires an additional payment - but we can separately negotiate for unlimited or extended rights for use in new media.
*A waiver for an 8-week cycle for either internet or new media is possible for $767.44. However, if you want to extend the 8 weeks you can pay an additional $2,302.32 for a total of 14 months of use.
Radio - All fees for Radio commercials have also increased by 6% and the P&W by .5%
All other terms and conditions remain the same as the 2003 contracts.
